Minor Project - Mauser 1898 Model, 19/11/18

With the completion of the bolt and breech the model has been finished. The bullets can be seen beside the weapon to get an idea of size. As the bullet has remained a consistent size it will help properly scale all the other props and characters.

One feature that is not necessary but is there due to the nature of the model is that the weapon can be cycled via its bolt.

  1. Hi Alex. I don't want to stop you in your tracks, however I think its important to point out that you're making a stylised animation and these objects look real - Particularly in relation to your character. I can see that you're enjoying modelling and are making good models, however are they fit for purpose or are you just modelling them as is? It's a fine line. In addition, have you considered how these models will appear on screen and for how long. Modelling them to high degree of detail may not be necessary, again given your character a simpler object with a good texture (Backwater Gospel) may have been a quicker and a more appropriate choice. As I said, I'm not trying to derail you but take a moment to think...What would these objects look like with your design conceit (animation/style/backwater gospel) taken in account?
