Story Telling and Commission: Soundscape, Reflective Statement

Having no experience with the use of sound or the programs related the project proved to be challenging. As a result of the lessons I have picked up on the most basic tools used for sound editing understanding concepts such as removing background noise. This has been a new and exciting task involving a whole new form of media. Overall a large number of noises have been collected in my library which have yet to be used. Using the Dictaphone has been fun as all manor of noises would sound different. In the end the three soundscapes that have been created remain relatively simple. While the tone of the sound may not completely match the picture given I attempted to reduce the amount of noises used to ensure the soundscape was not cluttered. However I feel that there could have been an added complexity to the soundscapes.

Story Telling and Commission: Soundscape, Listening Exercise

Listening for noises inside Blue room of UCA Rochester campus for a greater understanding of ambient noise

humming of computer fans
radiator clicking and heating up
clicking of mouses
moving mouses along the surface of the wooden table tops
scrolling the mouse wheels
buzzing of drills from above
unscrewing of lid on plastic bottle, alongside drinking water
creaking of people upstairs
ruffle of coats and clothes
tapping of computer keys
dripping water in pipes
sighs of students
tapping on the desktop
people walking by outside, whistling, grunting, conversation

Story Telling and Commission: Soundscape, Sound Design for Space

Today's Adobe Audition class entailed using sample sound files in order to create a soundscape for a space setting. Alongside sample sounds the class was given the choice to build a soundscape from our imagination or a sample video. I have designed my sound file around camera footage from a reentry.

Story Telling and Commission: Soundscape, My Three Images

The task that has been given for the current project 'Soundscapes' is to create 3x 30 second long soundscapes for the images given. The following 3 images have been selected at random and will have an original sound track created for each one.
Personally I feel that creating a sound track for anyone of these images will be difficult but also interesting. All these images could derive a sound from various sources but feel as if they would be more organic in nature.
